Gina, Lola & Brigida

“Well, they looked a bit like her, at least to us.”

When you raise chickens, or for that matter, when you spend more than a few fleeting minutes with any animal, you can glean a tiny bit of their personalities.

At Starlet Farm, we answer the big questions. For example, which came first, the chicken or the egg? Clearly, the chicken came first, or more accurately, three chicks named Gina, Lola, and Brigida. Tim Wilson and his wife Luan Schooler started Starlet Farm in 2010 as the brand for their urban farmstead, which over the years has included honey bees, hops and homebrew (naturally), blueberries, grapes, a pear tree, a vegetable garden, and of course, hens.

The brand name and the chicks’ monikers came about after Tim noticed an uncanny resemblance between a Silver Wyandotte and Gina Lollobrigida. In the right light, of course. Well, they looked a bit like her, at least to us.

And there were enough syllables in Gina’s name to fill out the name cards of our three chicks: Gina, Lola, and Brigida.

As they ran to and fro, and to and to, and under things they should not go under, we started calling them our little starlets. Starlets signified a bright kind of character that was much better than some of the other characters they displayed. The girls could sometimes reach the heights of full-blown divas, especially when pandering for cracked corn.

Cultivating the Best

Since 2010, the Starlet Farm brand has proudly featured beer, raisins, honey, pickles, and eggs– all made onsite. As a brand, it represents a personal commitment to cultivating quality produce that we’re proud to share with our family, friends, and neighbors.

With his new agency, Tim brings a unique approach to management and development for artists and arts organizations. Our personalized strategy aims to bring out the best in each client. Just as with the farmstead, at Starlet Farm, our focus will always be on a select roster of artists and projects we’re proud to support.
