Abaraz ⴰⴱⴰⵔⴰⵣ Gateway to the Sahara
Seffarine's next project embarks on an evocative journey into the heart of Mhamid, a small oasis town in southern Morocco. Abaraz explores the captivating rhythms and melodies that have echoed through the desert sands for centuries. By weaving together the distinctive musical heritage of Southern Morocco with Seffarine’s unique sound, the ensemble celebrates the enduring spirit of Mhamid, a tradition threatened by climate change. Expect hypnotic Saharan beats, haunting desert blues, Gnawa basslines, and compelling stories, all brought to life by Lamiae Naki's enchanting vocals and Seffarine's impeccable musicianship.
Joining Lamiae, whose family is from the region, are guest musicians from Mhamid, where Seffarine will record much of the album. Abaraz is a tribute to that heritage and the enduring spirit and cultural wealth of Mhamid, inviting audiences to experience its timeless beauty and profound musical legacy.“
